Dr. Lucy L. Osorio, has been recognized for her excellence, dedication, achievements and leadership in Psychotherapy and Clinical Mental Health.
Dr. Osorio was born and raised in Columbia, South America to a working-class family. Whilst studying in school, she decided to embark on a career as a psychologist as she always had a desire to help others in need. With the hope to help women, children and families who had been living on the streets, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1983 from the National University of Colombia. In 1993, after immigrating to the United States, she achieved a master’s degree in Clinical and Medical Social Work from Columbia University in New York City. To further her medical education, she completed postgraduate psychoanalytic studies and coursework in family therapy and through the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.

 

Since then, Dr. Osorio has been a clinical psychotherapist, treating and helping clients of all ages, specializing in those recovering from abuse and trauma. In 2005, Dr. Osorio began working as a program administrator at Sunrise Medical, PC, with additional duties including clinical psychotherapy sessions.

Since 2010, she has had great success with Sunrise Medical, PC, as a psychotherapist where she dedicates much of her time to helping the Spanish population within her region. Dr. Osorio has participated in numerous workshops and conferences, pioneering the concept of play therapy to help children overcome their abuse and trauma.

Aside from this, Dr. Osorio has professional affiliations with the National Association for Social Workers and the National Association of Professional Women. She has also worked on a variety of projects with People to People International and for the state of New York and is grateful to travel and collaborate with other providers and agencies, sharing her clinical expertise.

Dr. Osorio has received many accolades throughout her remarkable career such as in 2015 being honored by the National Association of Professional Women and being named Employee of the Year by the Puerto Rican Family Institute in New York. She has also been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Providers for her leadership, dedication, and accomplishments in clinical mental health.

Attributing her success to her incredible work ethic, Dr. Osorio lives by the philosophy that each day presents the opportunity to offer help to others.

In the future, she hopes to collaborate with other organizations, helping and providing children with assistance and educational resources and scholarships. Her one hope, above all else, is to make a difference to the lives of her patients and those she meets.
