Dr. Shermeil Dass, M.D., APC

Dr.  Shermeil Dass, M.D., APC, is a Psychiatrist with almost 20 years of experience in the field. She has an extensive background in both Foster Care and Juvenile Justice systems, having worked with the transitional age youth team for over a decade and as a Psychiatric Consultant for adolescents at Camp Recovery in Scotts Valley, CA.

Dr. Dass began her educational journey by attending a six-year BS/MD program in Ohio before completing a residency in General Psychiatry. This was followed by a Fellowship in Child Psychiatry at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, where she also served as the Chief Resident.

Dr. Dass is licensed to practice medicine in California and is board-certified in Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Her work focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of a vast range of mental disorders in young people. Patients range in age from younger children through to adolescents, with symptoms being equally varied, from mild episodic disorders to more chronic cases. Dr. Dass is passionate about promoting emotional wellbeing and believes that early intervention is key in helping to treat many types of mental illness, emotional disturbances, and abnormal behaviors.

Over the course of her impressive career, she has worked extensively within the foster care system and juvenile justice system. She has specific experience diagnosing and treating Autistic spectrum disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, mood disorders and psychotic disorders.

Utilizing both pharmaceuticals, as well as non-pharmaceutical techniques, Dr. Dass has been successfully working in private practice for almost 10 years, treating patients in Santa Cruz, California. She also lectures at King County College in King City, CA, covering topics such as psychiatric illnesses, treatments, and careers in psychiatry.

In order to remain at the forefront of her profession, Dr. Dass is affiliated with the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Her dedication to the profession was formally recognized in 2004 when she received the Steven M. Thompson Award.
